I’m Tommy Doherty or as my friends call me, TommyD. If you’d like to know a little bit about me, you’ve hit the right tab. Voice Acting is really about storytelling and storytelling is a lifelong passion of mine woven into the fabric of my being. My journey into voice acting began in a lively Boston neighborhood in a full house with five siblings, young aunts, an amazing single mom, and my loving grandparents. My grandfather’s captivating bedtime stories recited from memory sparked a passion for storytelling in me.
By the time I was 8 years old, I was performing my impressions of Presidents and celebrities and singing and dancing like the Pop stars of the day. From school plays to college talent shows and hosting a game show, my love for performance only grew. I got even more inspiration in college, where I wrote and performed my own commercials, earning Top Marks in Class and igniting more thoughts of Acting and Voice Acting.
So, I honed my presentation skills in pharma and healthcare high-tech, telling the story of my customers' successes and how we could solve our future customers’ problems. Eventually, I was asked to perform my many accents, and celebrity impersonations in company SNL-style skits. I loved doing it and just as soon as I did, I began to hear a recurring theme; that I had missed my calling! Finally, after landing my first professional voice-over gig, via a major golf glove Promo, I knew it was time to answer that call.
